A jewel of interior design, housed in an ancient treasure chest
The acquisition of the area neighbouring the Hotel Lamm, including the fifteenth-century building of the former Hotel Post and an erstwhile post station with adjoining haybarn, marked the beginning of a lengthy planning phase and requests for permits from the Superintendency of Fine Arts. As soon as the vital green light was given, the construction of the all-new iteration could finally begin: The Hotel Lamm and the old Hotel Post came together in the form of the Posthotel Lamm, with all of its annexed buildings and facilities.
Given that the project involved the renovation of listed buildings subject to artistic and historical constraints, the outer walls and all original features had to be preserved in a good state of repair which could be enhanced and incorporated into the renovations.
The remodelling of the haybarn, to give one example, created a new living space set back one metre from the old walls, with the original wooden beams remaining firmly in their original place. This setting is now the home of stylish rooms, suites and designer relaxation areas. A jewel of contemporary sophistication enclosed within a treasure chest of history, which we instantly rechristened our “home within a home.”
