A firm tradition, revitalised with every year that passes
From the end of November through to Twelfth Night, the beloved Christmas Market makes its return to Vipiteno. This unmissable event is held in Piazza Città at the foot of the Torre delle Dodici, where the scents, colours, flavours and sounds transport visitors to an enchanted world of magical impressions for adults and children alike.
With their magnificent decorations for the home, nativity scene statuettes, candles and Christmas tree baubles, the market stalls provide the perfect opportunity to get ready for Christmas.
Needless to say, famed local specialities such as speck, desserts, jams, honey and chocolate are in full attendance if you want to add a special touch of cheer to the Christmas table. If you’re looking for ideas for Christmas gifts, you’re sure to find a host of original ideas here, ranging from exquisite handcrafts to Tyrolean slippers and much more. Between one purchase and the next, the many refreshment stalls provide mouthwatering sweet and savoury snacks, to wash down with a warming glass of mulled wine.
Each year, Vipiteno Christmas market—one of South Tyrol’s five original Christmas markets— features a different annual theme which inspires the countless events held in the city centre each day.
The variety-packed programme includes brass bands, choirs, exhibitions, free guided tours, the spectacular Krampus parade of Saint Nicholas and the devils on 5 December, atmospheric torchlit processions, entertainment for kids, and a wealth of other fun events.
